NOPE! Not today. I trudged through the blizzard to mail an order for one of my customers and was shocked to find the post office closed. I wrongly assumed that they never closed.
As a kid, I remember the saying “Neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor hail, you will always get your mail”. If memory serves me correctly, it may have been from a cartoon…Underdog or Rocky and Bullwinkle? But, it seems that my memory may be wrong. The actual saying is “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds”. I found it after some googling and it is actually inscribed on the main post office behind Penn Station.
Apparently, it’s not really their motto, but, to be fair, I don’t blame them from shutting down today. My normally bustling neighborhood was a ghost town today. On my trek, the only person that I saw was a kid smoking a cigarette in front of the NYU dorms. I do wonder if Amazon, UPS and FedEx also spared their workers from the wrath of Stella.
On the bright side, I played photographer with my iPhone and took this pic of my new fox ring in the snow.
